The Cottage Garden

About this style

The Cottage Garden is originally English, possibly dating back to the 1400s, when every inch of productive land mattered for the growing of flowers, herbs, fruit trees and vegetables. This has led to an informal style, with a mix of closely planted non-edibles and edibles across the whole colour spectrum. There may be a winding path through the planting, possibly a seating area, or obelisk, but no room or purpose for a lawn.

Helenium, Monarda, Digitalis, Rudbeckia, Crocosmia, Salvia, Lobelia, Kniphofia, Geranium, Roses, Phlox, fruit trees and herbs.
