Winter/Spring Courses and Workshops
Due to COVID restrictions we have had to postpone some of our workshops until later in Spring. The new dates are listed below.and will be different to the printed brochure.
MOTHERS DAY HAND TIED BOUQUET WORKSHOP:12th March 10.30am - £50
Our talented and expert floral designers, Alli Croft and Helen Haworth will guide you through the stages of creating an elegant hand-tied bouquet using seasonal blooms for you to take home. You will learn how to select your flowers and assemble them, whilst gaining an understanding of tints, tones, focal flowers and foliage. Guests will have the chance to add a personal touch by selecting some blooms of their choice and adding their own creative touch to the bouquet. Our talented floristry tutors will sharing top tips and useful knowledge throughout the workshop.
GARDEN DESIGN: with Alli Croft,

This course offers the opportunity to explore the art of garden design from concept to completion and will look at the many aspects involved in creating an individual garden . Discover how to achieve a garden which both inspires and enhances your outdoor space. There will be an opportunity to discuss your own garden designs and have your question answered.

A wonderful opportunity to watch Head Chef Radek, cooking up culinary delights with a wealth of fresh seasonal ingredients, all sourced from our local suppliers within the Ribble Valley. This course will offer a helpful insight into cooking a range of dishes, with helpful tips and advice for the enthusiastic home cook.

This workshop has been replaced with the following Masterclass due to the limitations of the season.
(PROPAGATION MASTERCLASS: with John Foley, Wednesday 12th May, 10am)
Award winning gardener and owner of Holden Clough Nursery, John Foley, teaches the skills needed to divide and propagte your perennials and grow your stock of healthy plants. This course will cover all aspects of dividing and propagating, and there will be an opportunity to put your own questions to John at the end of the session. This really is a popular course and early booking is recommended.
EASTER FLOWER ARRANGING WORKSHOP: with
Felicity Farm Flowers, 3rd April 10am - £90
We are thrilled to be welcoming back our guest floral designer and expert, Elaine from Felicity Farms Flowers, to host an Easter flower arranging workshop. Elaine will help you to create a seasonal spring arrangement using the very best of British flowers, grown on Elaine's farm or locally by other artisan flower growers. You will be guided through the flower selections and shown the various techniques used to make a floral display, before you are set to task, putting together your own beautiful arrangement. This is a very friendly and relaxed session and no previous floristry experience is necessary.
FLOWER ARRANGING DEMONSTRATION: with vases from around The Glasshouse, 7th April 10.30am - £30
Learn how to make beautiful vase arrangements using seasonal blooms, whether you are a beginner or more experienced. Guided by one of Holden Clough’s professional florists, you will learn the key principles of flower arranging and floral design, using a selection of cut flowers and seasonal materials arranged in glass and ceramic vases from around The Glasshouse. Each guest will create a beautiful arrangement to take home, including the vase so you can enjoy many more floral arrangements in the future.
AUTHOR VISIT WITH ALYSIA VASEY: The Yorkshire Forager, 'A Wild Food Survival Journey', 21st April 11am - £30
For our first in our series of author visits, we are delighted to be welcoming experienced forager and wild food expert Alysia Vasey, who has a long family tradition of foraging and founded ‘The Yorkshire Foragers’.
An expert in the use of botanicals, Alysia Vasey has gained a reputation amongst culinary professionals as a distinguished consultant and supplier on all things wild. Her work with some of the finest chefs in the country and abroad, has seen Alysia gain recognition and has recently published her first book, The Yorkshire Forager, She has also just launched a brand new gin of the same name and has become a regular on TV including James Martin's Saturday Morning Show and BBC Countryfile. Alysia has also contributed to many magazines and newspapers such as Good Housekeeping, The Telegraph, Chef magazine, and many more.
All courses and workshops are held outdoors or under the cover of our Living Roof and include Tea/Coffee and Cake
